This is probably the best short trek in Nepal and the second-best right behind this is the Poon Hill trek which is currently the most popular one. For those of you that like more variety and less crowd, the Mardi Himal will be excellent. This trek offers great views, just like any other, but the fact that you are a lot closer to the mountains adds a bit of spice on top.

It is also good for beginners and those that are just getting into trekking and hiking. It is also a short one that can easily be seen and done if you are pressed for time, plus it is easily accessible because it is close to Pokhara, the second largest city in Nepal. You probably know this already but there are treks in Nepal that can take days to travel to by bus or plane.

2. Everest Base Camp Trek

The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most well-known treks in the world. Given its history, magnificent environment, and the Sherpa culture you will experience along the way, it deserves its reputation. However, because of the popularity of the voyage, the major routes can become somewhat crowded at times.

This is why other Everest region treks are ranked higher on our list (Three Passes Trek and Gokyo Lakes). Despite the crowds, Everest Base Camp is a magnificent expedition that deserves to be considered one of Nepal’s finest treks.

3. Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek

Due to its great elevation, the Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is one of the most arduous treks in Nepal, involving three days of walking on snow above 5,000 meters with no easy way down. This expedition, on the other hand, will take you into the heart of some of the world’s highest mountains if you have prior experience and are willing to put in the work.

To get to the trailhead, fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara for 25 minutes, then drive for 2 hours; or drive from Kathmandu for 8 hours.

4. Upper Mustang Trek

In comparison to almost all other treks in Nepal, the Upper Mustang Trek’s dry valley has unique scenery. This site lies amid the Himalayas’ arid rain shadow, with its many shades of brown and crumbling sandstone cliffs. Mustang was formerly a separate country, and the Tibetan-influenced customs make this a culturally interesting journey.

Take two connecting flights to get to the trailhead: Kathmandu to Pokhara (25 minutes) and Pokhara to Jomsom (25 minutes) (20 minutes).

5. Langtang Trek

The Langtang trek is an emotional trip. Following the 2015 earthquake, the routes and guesthouses were closed for a few years, but trekkers have returned.

The route leads you through beautiful woodlands to the high alpine meadows and yak pastures around Kyangjin Gompa (a Buddhist monastery), with an optional day trek up to Kyangjin Ri’s summit (peak).

Kathmandu to the trailhead takes seven hours.

If you have three weeks to commit to the journey, the Three Passes Trek, which takes you over three 5,000m+ passes, is the best way to truly explore the Everest Region. The trek includes components of the Everest Base Camp Trek, but the views of the Himalayan giants from the Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La passes are even more breathtaking. Other Everest Base Camp Trek variations can be combined with the Three Passes Trek.

A 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla will take you to the trailhead.
